We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next to find ourselves.

For most of us, traveling to Japan is like traveling to another world. Now imagine going to the edge of the other world. What could possibly lie ahead of that?
Just because you love Sapporo beer, doesn't mean you have tasted Hokkaido. In fact, Sapporo Classic is only sold in Hokkaido and wins in a blind taste test.
When I first heard the term soup curry it didn't really draw me in. Till you eat a warm bowl on a cold night. It is a very special genre of Japanese curry only available in Hokkaido. Imagine the most perfect seasoned consomme with a roasted leg of chicken that falls off the bone with perfectly bright al dente vegetables. This meal truly was extraordinary.
The key of Hokkaido is to stay outdoors. Autumn is gorgeous on a bicycle as you can literally watch the leaves changing color as you ride by them. If you can catch a baseball game at the new Escon field and soak in the onsen in the sky overlooking the ballpark with draft sapporo classics. It doesn't get more local than this.
This is a taste of our trip to Hokkaido. Here is the full itinerary: Savor Hokkaido
